This Wednesday, my sweet doggie, Wraggs, passed away.  She is still missed by all of us in the house.  Her toys have all been packed away, I have no idea what to do with them really.  I think in the back of my mind, I am saving them for the next doggie that joins the household.  Not ALL of her toys are packed away.  Two of her favorite toys, the first two that I got for her,  a stuffed pumpkin and stuffed squash, are sitting next to her urn.  Her dog beds are still up and in used (cats do use dog beds.....)  I no longer look for her when I come home.  I do miss the long walks we had and our great conversations.  She was a great listener.

This is one of my favorite photos of her.

No, this is not sad, this is nice remembering her.

Oh, get this....Mom was on the couch reading the Sunday paper when Robin came in and tapped her on the shoulder and proceeded to get on the couch with MY MOM!  And Mom let him!  This is big for Robin, he doesn't like to be touched or held so asking Mom for some attention was a big deal.

The other heathens are heathens.  Mom will let them out on the patio when she gets home from that work place.  Except there is a small issue.  Louie and Hermie keep bringing in baby lizards and a few not so little lizards.  Mom rescues them all and doesn't scream anymore when she picks them up.  I guess if you deal with something long enough you get used to it.  Unless it is a heathen and then, NEVER!!!!!

I'm doing quite well.  I got lots of snuggles with Mom.  I got my special kibble.  And I got up on the kitchen table where there were leftover treats....and ate them.  yummy.  Mom caught me though, she heard me get up on the table and came to investigate.  There I was, caught red pawed!  I got down delicately and waddled back into the bedroom.

I must nap again.  I have to snuggle Mom all night and that is hard work!

Well, crap

So, Mom is starting the job search again.  And she has made the decision that she will do some pet sitting too.  I think she would be great at pet sitting.  Kitties and doggies do not go out of their way to hurt her like humans do.

This, of course, is all weighing heavily on Mom's mind.  I can tell.  She didn't sleep well last night.  I did my best to make her feel better but it wasn't happening.  Mom got maybe 6 hours of sleep and it wasn't restful sleep.  And trust me, Mom needs her beauty sleep.

At this point, I'm ready for the ax to fall Ellie, it will be a huge relief to know that I don't have to deal with that again.  And yes, we will be fine, you know that.  I'll contact my financial guy and work out how I can get some of my retirement for us to live on, very frugally of course.  No, don't worry, you will be fine, kibble and gooshy foods and treats are a must.

So us kitties are going to do our best to be there for Mom.  She is always here for us, we need to be there for her.  She seems to have a plan.  She knows how this goes, what happens and doesn't get terrified.  Too much.  And I'll make sure she has lots of snuggles and love.  And I'm sure that guy that likes Mom will be around to comfort her.   He can't help too much but he does seem to care for her.

Now this is an old picture.  The kitty is my sweet Bob when he was a young hunk and the dog is some guy named Dino that was at Grandma and Grandpa's house (they loved that doggie a lot)

BOB!!!!!

I was in such a good mood too, seeing Bob....then we get heathens.  sigh.
I guess you have to show the other heathen too.

Well, I need to rest now.  I have to help Mom feel better and I will need all of my strength.

BTW all, I really am fine.  This is just a bump in the road of life.  I will run over that bump and move on.

Quiet

I'm being quiet right now.  Mom is stressed (job) but ok and that affects me and the other kitties.  They can tell Mom needs them.  It explains why all 3 boys were swarming Mom while she was on the couch reading a book today.  It made her laugh.  She needed it.

This is a cool picture of Hermie that someone modified.  Mom thinks it is cool.  I hope to have a picture of me done like this sometime.
This made Mom laugh hard.  Cause this is how it is at every job.  Someone always thinks that they are working harder than others and their stuff is more important.  And guess what?  it is like that again. Mom has said she is going to update her resume so that she can be on the hunt for something.  Yes, she likes the job but does not like the attitude of some of the folks
Not one of the heathens but could easily be.  Only our heathens are cuter and sweeter.  Yes, I admit it.  I like the heathens.  They make Mom smile.  That is important.

And I must rest up now.  I have to watch over Mom all night while she sleeps.  Hard work but I love my job.  And my Mom.

Happy Gotcha Day Robin!!!!

One year ago today, Mom rescued Robin.  We all thought Robin was a girl (Mom didn't even check) but nope, Robin was a boy and a heathen to boot!

He has come a long way I guess.  Today Mom was on the couch and Robin was rubbing against her toes and legs, being all loving like.  He was even purring when Mom put him on her lap to get some good love in.  How dare he.
Looks like after a year, he has made himself at home.

Yesterday Mom had to replace the guts of the toilet in the guest bathroom.  Very painful for Mom.  Her hands and wrists are in pain.  And her fingers were swollen last night.  Today it is better, plus the toilet is all fixed and doesn't leak!

Oh sure, Robin, show how pretty you are.  I am still the kitty that gets to sleep with Mom all night.  So there.

We've had weather here, lots of rain.  LOTS of rain.  Not a hurricane but lots of rain.  We need it I guess.  It irritates the heathens cause it stops them from having real patio time.  TOO BAD!!!

Mom says work is ok.  Like she told her guy friend, it is work, if it were fun we wouldn't be allowed to do it.

well, that is all the news that I have now.  Mom is making home made vegetable beef soup with home made noodles....one of her favorite meals.  And there is sangria in the fridge.  Mom will be happy and goofy!  My favorite kind of Mom.

Happy Birthday United States!!!

You don't look a day over 234!

This is the 4th of July, 1961.  See the woman in the middle at the picnic table with the baby in her lap.  That's my namesake (Helen, Mary, Eleanor) and the baby is MY MOM!!!  The bored looking 16 year old to the left of my Grandma is my aunt Adele.  She looks thrilled to be there. And the blond boy at the end of the bench is Mom's brother Robin. Mom's Grandma is the old lady on the left, Ethel.  The others are just various relatives.

It has been a nice weekend here.  Mom has been home for 4 days!!!  I got to snuggle with her and lay on her and it has been awesome!  But she says she has to go back to that 'work' place tomorrow.  She doesn't sound too thrilled about that.  hmmmmm

Mom was online last night looking at cameras.  She has one she wants, she is saving her money to get it.  Great, so she can even more pictures of the heathens, like we need more pictures of THEM!   What about ME!!!!!

I better rest, I understand that there is some sort of celebration involved with this birthday stuff.  Fireworks (ick), noise (ick).

Happy Birthday USA!!!
